Toyota have restructured their Formula One team’s chassis and engine
departments following the recent departure of technical director Mike
Gascoyne.

Toyota and Gascoyne parted company last month following a difference of
opinion over the future direction of their technical operation and the team have
now abolished the Englishman’s former job title, choosing instead to move
responsibility away from a single individual.

Toyota have now created two posts of ‘senior general manager’, with Pascal
Vasselon and Luca Marmorini taking respective responsibility for chassis and
engine. The pair will work together and reporting directly to Yoshiaki
Kinoshita, Executive Vice-President of Toyota Motorsport.

"Part of Toyota's genetic make-up constitutes the embodiment of teamwork,”
commented Toyota Motorsport President, John Howett. “As such, we are always
striving to empower each individual within the organisation to actively
contribute to the ultimate goal, namely to one day win the world championship.
We feel that this can only be accomplished by focussing less on the position of
technical director, therefore we have decided to erase this position from our
structure.

Senior General Manager in chassis and engine areas respectively and will

After finishing fourth in last year’s constructors’ championship, Toyota
have had a less successful start to their 2006 campaign, scoring seven points
from the first five rounds to put them seventh in the standings.
